Florida Man swallows four bags of heroin, escapes from ambulance en route to hospital
MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – Florida Man Ira Emil Kawzinsky ate four baggies of heroin before escaping from an ambulance en route to a hospital on Tuesday.
Monroe County Deputies arrived to a home on Big Pine Key, where they found the Florida Man incoherent, but responsive.
Deputies also found a syringe, spoon and a substance that tested positive for heroin.
After being escorted from the home, Kawzinsky started convulsing. Rescue crews gave the Florida Man Naracan, an opioid-blocking drug, before calling the Monroe County Fire Rescue for backup.
Kawzinsky was loaded into an ambulance and driven to the Lower Keys Medical Center, with deputies following.
According to NBC 2 News, “the ambulance made a sudden stop near Mile Marker 30 in the center turn lane and then the rear door opened and Kawzinsky jumped out and ran away.”

With the help of U.S. Border Control agents, Florida Highway Patrol troopers, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation officials, and a K9 unit; Kawzinsky was found and transported to the hospital.
During the drive to the hospital, the Florida Man told deputies he ate four bags of heroin and may have blacked out during the incident.
Kawzinsky faces a felony drug charge; as well as misdemeanor charges for resisting an officer, paraphernalia possession and probation violation.
